For those who dont know, i am lucky enough have a home studio, and plenty of space to warehouse my own products, and box and ship directly from my house. Amy who acts as my manager, confidant, customer service, and shipping dept., comes in everyday around 9am and leaves around 3. anyway, today she came in this morning and broke my coffee pot!! doh!! but being the sweetheart that she is she rushed out to starbucks to get a big coffee thing and pastry goodness. so that was great... and kinda worked out because we had a meeting this morning with a guy named Jamie who came over around 10:30.
Jamie is a production guru and an all around cool guy. we are planning to work together on some future projects, so we sat around talking and scheming until 3 or so. When he left i was inspired and wired from all the coffee i drank, so i started and finished the turnaround sketches for a new figure that were planning to do together. im not sure if he wants to keep it under wraps or not, so i wont spill the beans, but its a fun, high-end product, different than anything else ive done.
You know what's the point in keeping a blog if all i seem to do is not share any upcoming projects?? i dont know... but it does feel good to just sit here and write/vent/spew whatever comes to mind after im done for the day. its kinda like my daily public journal i guess. its probably not very interesting but i guess i get something out of it, and its cheaper than a shrink.
ANYWAY...
the past few days ive also been watching the brand new DVD boxed set of "Popeye the Sailor 1933 - 1938." man, this collection is AMAZING!!! not only are early Popeye cartoons genius, but all the shows are in chronological order and are beautifully maintained/restored, AND the special features are top notch. the disk i watched/listened to today had a really thorough history of the genesis of animation. really a must see collection for any fans of animation. i netflix'd the whole set, but im buying it when i get the chance. one of the best collections ive ever seen on DVD. there is so much mediocrity out there, it really feels exciting to see something amazing and well done...
